Love a Bird

[Sara]

A girl in a wheelchair wheeled herself over to the girl sitting on a chair outside of the dome. She pushed herself on the chair by using her hands and looked at the girl next to her. She appeared to be daydreaming, so the brown-haired girl snapped her fingers in front of her and calmly asked,
"Are you all right? You were daydreaming, so I thought I'd snap you out of it... Did you wanna visit the exhibits or something? I was gonna see what the birds are like, so would you like to come with me?"

[Haruhi]

Mujitsu snapped out of her daydream and looked at the girl sitting next to her. "Yeah I am fine, thanks for that... Are we allowed to go to the exhibits right now? School has not started yet as far as I know, but that's not much since I am new here and do not know much about this place... But sure I will go with you," she said standing up. She blinked and asked "Do you need help with your, um, wheelchair?"

[Sara]

"Okay then, let's go! Of course we can visit them, just remember not to touch the cute little birdies," she told her, smiling and pushing herself back into her wheelchair. "You can push me if you feel like it, or I could just move it by myself like I usually do..." she trailed off, then remembered what she was going to say earlier. "Oh yeah, I forgot about our names! I'm Sara Parker, I'm in Jikku--room 13--and I'll be going into the 9th grade this year. What about you?" she asked, anxious to hear what the blonde-haired girl would say in response to this.

[Haruhi]

The blond smiled and started pushing the other girl's wheelchair to the door. "Ok but can you tell me all of the exhibits here? I know that there is mammals and birds in one of them, but I am not sure about the other two..." she said opening the door. "My name is Mujitsu Kigakiri but I prefer you calling me Mia or Taiko. My room is the 34th room in Bungaku, and I will start 10th grade this year," she continued as she walked to the middle room in the exhibit section. "Well here we are!"

[Sara]

Sara looked back at Mujitsu and blushed slightly, as she now knew that this girl was in a grade higher than her. "W-well," she said nervously, "there's an exhibit on amphibians and reptiles, one on mammals and birds, and one for fish and insects. It's very nice to meet you, Mia. I hope you like your room!"
She smiled and added, "Thanks for coming here with me. I was getting kinda lonely, since a lot of my friends from last year have left the academy, due to the accident that happened during Prep Choir last year... anyways, say 'hi' to Seira!" she continued, wheeling herself over to a small orange hummingbird. "She's four years old now, because her birthday was on the 5th! Isn't it cool how animals age just like we do?"

[Haruhi]

I should visit the insect exhibit with Kekkou sometime, she thought as she walked over to Sara. "No problem but what happened in Prep Choir? If its none of my business then you do not have to answer..." Mia looked at the little bird and smiled. "Hi Seira, its nice to meet you, and happy birthday! Yeah, its great that God made the world like this... Did you name her?" she said, directing the last part to Sara.

[Sara]

"Well... there's a girl who's going into 8th grade this year, and her name is Asuka Yanatachi," she started, trying to dig back into the past to remember what happened but failing. "I guess you should ask her if you want to have a first-hand experience. I wasn't there for most of the class period, so I don't know exactly how it happened... But yeah, I've known Seira ever since I started 7th grade here," she continued, going back to the subject of birds. "My mom named her, isn't that right, Seira?" Sara poked her finger inside the cage and stroked its back for a second, then took it out again, as she forgot about the 'do not touch' rule.

[Haruhi]

"Oh okay then," she said but more to herself than to Sara. "I am sure that they won't mind if you touch her, since your mom did name her, right?" she said giggling. She saw that the bird had touches of red in her wings and said "She really is a beautiful bird, you know. You are so lucky that you get to have a hummingbird like her."

[Sara]

Sara gave Mujitsu a small smile and told her, "Yes, I'd assume so, but I wouldn't want to set a bad example to the other students." She looked back at Seira and sighed dreamily. "I know. That's what my mom gave her such a beautiful name."

[Haruhi]

Mujitsu smiled back at her. "If it is me that you are worried about, I rarely disobey the rules," she told her. "Ah, I wish we were allowed to have animals in our dorm rooms, but I assume that this is as close as we can get to that."

[Sara]

"I'd hope so," Sara replied, a hint of seriousness in her voice. However, the seriousness left at her next statement: "I would totally have Seira with me if we were allowed to do that! She's like a little sister to me, and I visit her as often as I can, so it'd be perfect anyways." She paused for a second, then nervously asked, "Um... would you like to go get lunch with me? I'm sure you'll be allowed to eat in the Jikku dorm with me, and since hardly anybody's there during the summer, it won't be very crowded."

[Haruhi]

"That is good to know," Mujitsu told her as she headed for the door. "Sure, I do not feel like eating in Bungaku anyways... I might run into my sister." A sweat mark appeared on her head then it disappeared. "Bye Seira!"

[Sara]

"Ja ne, Seira-chan," Sara told the bird, waving to her as she followed after Mujitsu. She wheeled herself out of the room and followed the blond to Jikku.
